uPVC Sash WindowsOwners of homes with older type sash timber windows are very slow to consider changing them, even though by installing uPVC sash windows in their place, they would probably be much more comfortable in their homes.  The reasons for their reticence are many and a lot of these reasons are based on false information.  In this article we will look at some of the main misconceptions that homeowners have regarding these windows.

1.    They consider new windows to be too expensive to consider installing them.

There is no doubt that new windows of any description are not going to be cheap and will require quite a large initial outlay on the owner’s behalf.

However when you consider how inefficient older timber windows are and how much fuel you could save over the medium to longer term by installing quality uPVC sash windows, you can see that over a period of time you could actually save money.

Add to that the additional comfort that you and your family would have by installing uPVC sash windows that will retain the heat in your home and you can start to see that it can make sense to change.

2.    Apart from better heat retention, they see little advantage to new windows.

This could not be more wrong.  Many older timber windows were built and installed at a time when home security was less of an issue than it is now.  Older windows give a burglar an easy entrance to the home, a simple iron bar will suffice to force the frame.  This is not the case with sash uPVC sash windows.

The frames have strong locks fitted and the glazing is nearly always double or triple glazed, which is very difficult to get through without making a lot of noise.  Sash uPVC windows also are easier to maintain and offer better protection against noise and air pollution than an older type timber window.
