tension curtain rods 150x150 Tension Curtain Rods: Hang Curtains with EaseTension curtain rods are one of those great design innovations that have made decorating easier for both the professional and home do-it-yourself enthusiast. They are extremely easy to install. Best used with shorter curtains, these rods work perfectly for rooms with limited window frame space and where drilling holes is difficult due to metal hurricane bracing and steel frames.

Tension rods are made with a spring in the center of the rod which, when secured into place, forces tension on both sides of the rod, forcing it outward. The end caps are made of rubber, to diminish marking walls and window frames when used.

To install these curtain rods, simply unscrew the center of the rod, fit it snuggly in the window, and then secure the screw again. Once the screw is secured into place, you will be able to gently remove the rod by applying pressure inward from both sides, which will give you enough tension release to remove the rod.

You will then be able to place your curtains on the rod and secure it back into place by pushing the sides in to allow the rod enough space to secure it into place within the window frame. These rods are great especially for curtains made from lightweight fabrics. A tension curtain rod is a great choice for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom windows. These rods are also excellent to use for shower curtains, where you may not want to drill into expensive tile.

Tension curtain rods are not the right choice where you want to install curtains outside of the window frame – the rods need to brace against something on each side. If you have standard curtains hanging outside the frame they are still useful, however, for installing an inner voile or sheer curtain.

You can find tension rods on sale at relatively little cost both online and at your local home retailer. The next time you are hanging curtains and want to be able to hang them without the stress and strain of drilling holes in your wall, think whether tension curtain rods might be a solution for you.
