A Cabin Theme And Rustic Curtain Poles For Home Decoration
One of the reasons that a cabin theme may be so popular for interior design is that people like the idea of a simple life. Clean, natural lines and the feel of the outdoors appeal to a lot of people. On the other hand, a cabin theme can be quite overdone as well. With a few simple tips, you can bring this theme to your home – in as little or as large a way as you like.
The heart of a cabin or rustic theme are the materials. Definitely wood, also leather, flannel or wrought iron bring the theme. Knotty pine, roughness, all that is rustic. Except, you don’t have to not sand your furniture. You can go with a hardwood floor, and half wall wood paneling, and still get the look.
If you want there are dozens of accessories you can buy – from bears on toilet paper holders to lamps that look like they are made from a solid piece of wood. If you don’t want, a coffee table made of wood and lamps that look more like lanterns will also evoke the cabin feel. But, no matter how much or how little you do, you will need to decorate your windows.
There isn’t a standard for material for the curtains themselves. Flannel, or cotton with a plaid design would look nice. But, for sure, the standard white, slide to fit curtain poles will not look nice. For a cabin theme, you need to have some kind of substantial curtain pole to hang your curtains on.
There are curtain poles available in wood, wrought iron, and even copper that would fit with a rustic theme. You could even use a metal bracket and then hang the curtains themselves from wood you pick up in your local woods. Whatever you decide, know that your curtain poles will add quite a lot to the cabin theme. Or, if you don’t think too much about them, they can detract from your cabin theme quite a bit.
So, go minimalist and get only a few pieces of wood furniture, or go all out with kitschy knick-knacks. But, whatever you do, make sure your whole theme hangs together and your curtains hang on some kind of rustic curtain pole.
